About Us

Welcome to The American Guides Project, your place to share the stories & memories of small towns across America, as well as your own neighborhood! Our online collection of local heritage is designed for use by every American, from students & teachers to heritage tourists & history buffs.

We don't give you watered-down popular histories; rather, we offer the perspective of the local historian & the eyewitness - the real people, traditions, and events which formed each community, and our nation. We also celebrate the existing local heritage, both natural and historic, which remains in almost every corner of America, and we invite your participation in the most ambitious community heritage project since the New Deal.
